Dominic Munjanattu January 27, Great friendly staff , excellent and professional service.
I've always hoped for a barbershop with services, atmosphere and clientele custom tailored towards a gentlemen with discerning standards in grooming, such as myself. Between the polite service, professional haircut and wash, I truly felt like a guest, rather than just another customer. Excellent business, I handed out a handful of Capelli's business cards to colleagues and friends of mine who are also tasteful and equally discerning gentlemen such as myself.
I have extremely short hair, and I am a woman. I work in the same building as Capelli's downtown location so I thought I could stop in for a trim around the neck. They would not cut my hair. I went back and forth for a while with the receptionist, who wouldn't say directly, ""no, we don't cut women's hair"", but would not allow me to see a stylist either.
She kept saying that ""we only have equipment that is designed especially for the texture of men's hair, so we are unable to cut your hair. You just need a sharp pair of scissors and a comb to cut hair any hair man or women. I emailed the owner of the company to relay how insulted I was at the lack of tack by, and outright patronization received from the receptionist and she replied such: "" Part of her reply reads: ""Since opening Capelli's four years ago we feel our image has portrayed us correctly since we have not had any women clientele"".
She he did not apologize to me for being turned away due to my gender only stated she was sorry I felt that I was. I also believe it would be more professional to have staff say directly, ""No, we do not allow women"". It may not happen that women come to their shop often for service, but making up lies ""we only have equipment to cut the texture of men?
Should I mention that this entire event was carried out in front of men customers. I was humiliated. I decided to try out Capellis and was informed of a new location just open last week in the City Centre building where Palomino is located. Walking up I was enveloped in dark wood, plush overstuffed leather chairs, 3 flat screen tvs, gentlemenly memorabilia, and beautiful women waiting to welcome me and cut my hair. I was offered an espresso which came immediately and then placed with April who not only took the time to get to know me and make me feel welcome but also gave me a wonderful service with a shampoo, scalp massage, consultation, haircut, style, and hot towel neck shave.
I left feeling relaxed, fresh, and manly! I will never visit another salon again and will be a faithful client to Capellis. I might even get a manicure next time. Very recommended. I did enjoy my experience. The Tvs, the fresh coffee, the friendly staff including the owner. I love the neck shave head massage. My only complaint would be if it took longer. I know some people are in a hurry, but I felt I barely had time to enjoy my cofee or the tvs.
I prefer if it felt like the stylist took their time with me. Might have just been the time of day. I did just recommend this to a friend, but I personally prefer the barber shops that offer just a little more patience and hands on.
