Fun part-time job great for someone in school. A new location every day keeps it fun. Pros the animals. Cons long hours and short 30 min unpaid break. The job was easy , simple instructions on a daily basis. Management could use some work. Co workers were okay.
Cons Management. I love every single day I've worked at the San Antonio Zoo and I wouldn't give my time with them for anything in the world. But while I have learned invaluable skills, I cannot help but feel it is next to near impossible to move up on the work ladder.
I have been a part-time keeper for 3 years now, applying for nearly every full time position available, but have always been overlooked. I do not hold this against the people who do get hired, but I cannot help but think "how am I supposed to gain the experience you want me to have if you want me to advance, when you refuse to give me the oppertunity to actually learn it?
Cons Long hours in sometimes bad weather conditions, constantly on your feet. The job and eployees are great. The upper management not so much.
